Many of us are well into our New Year’s resolutions, and for those looking to tighten the purse strings, Benicia’s Restaurant Week is serving up some delicious savings. With nearly a dozen great eateries offering 15%-20% off, we recommend making your way through the list with progressive enthusiasm.

A great way to get a taste of it all is to begin your culinary adventure with drinks and appetizers. Almost all of Benicia’s participating restaurants offer an eclectic array of starting dishes great for sharing. The Union Hotel has amazing empanadas and a fun list of signature cocktails to get the party going. Be sure to download your Dining Passport from to take advantage of the discounts. Make note of the fine print, some places exclude alcohol from their offer.

Next stop is the main course. Venticello’s is a charming Italian restaurant offering 20% off your entire order. Everything on the menu is incredible and the service is as warm as the ambience. It’s nearly impossible to choose one entrée, so we suggest going with loved ones willing to share a bite or two. You may need a breather after indulging in their homemade pastas, so the walk back toward the waterfront makes for a perfect transition to dessert.

If your adventure includes lunch, Dianna’s Bakery & Café is a sweet spot to grab a meal or confectioned treat. They are offering 15% off, and just note that the doors close at 4 p.m. For evening epicureans, First Street Café is the perfect place to wrap up your night. Their best-kept secret is the carrot cake, which might be better than mom’s. If pie is your pick, we challenge you to choose between tart key lime and mixed berry.

No matter where you land, Benicia won’t disappoint. The Dining Passport runs through Saturday, January 27. Bon appetite!
