Benicia Public Library Anniversary Celebration

Twenty-five years ago, the Benicia Public Library moved from its long-time location at 144 East G Street (now a private residence) to its present location at 150 East L Street. The Library plans to celebrate the milestone with a series of events:
  • Family Storytime, 11:30 a.m.
  • Library opens, 12 p.m.
  • 25-years of Storytimes: 12, 12:30, 1 p.m. in the Dona Benicia Room, featuring children’s librarians of the past
  • Speeches and Cake, 1:30 – 2:15 p.m. in the Dona Benicia Room
    • Poet Laureate Johanna Ely will read a poem written for the occasion
    • Speakers, including former City Librarians Susan Hildreth and Carol Starr, building architect Frants Albert, former Mayor Marilyn O’Rourke, Mayor Elizabeth Patterson, State Librarian Greg Lucas, and others.
  • 25-years of Storytimes continued: 2:30, 3, 3:30 p.m.
  • Coyote (acoustic) concert, 4 p.m. at the Library Fireplace
  • Adult Storytime, 5 p.m.
