Attention art lovers: all throughout the month of August, Benicia visitors will be able to enjoy live outdoor showcases and painting demonstrations. Read on for dates, times, and details!
Mixed media artist , Colleen Gianatiempo will perform a live outdoor demonstration of how you can use everyday household objects to create a masterpiece! Credit cards, bubble wrap, string, plastic bags, corks, Q-tips, and more! Come to watch and enjoy the day.
Once Upon a Canvas events will be held outside, in front of the Tannery building, with safe social distancing from 1PM-3:30PM. More live art events will be held every second Saturday of the month: August 8, September 12 and October 10.

Arata Art Gallery will be continuing their “Artist in the Window” event every Saturday from noon to 4PM, with Robert Evans doing a live demonstration creating an oil painting until August 20th.

HQ Gallery is now open Saturdays and Sundays 12PM to 6PM. The third annual Unframed Art Sale runs through Sunday, August 30th.
Artwork from member artists, ready for framing, will be featured in bins inside the gallery. HQ will also be adding space for small art and gift items in addition to the beautiful cards made by its members. Take home your favorite pieces and frame them your way, to match your decor!
The collection from “25 Artists, 25 Styles” is also on exhibit right now, with the Spring/Summer Celebration Show.

Gallery 621’s featured artist for the month of August is Daniel Hunter. Hunter has developed a new style of work for his showcase: a selection of pages from an imaginary book, Everything Explained. Each page features enigmatic lines of text in rich colors and shapes, surrounded by the border of contrasting colors and shapes.
Hunter’s new work can be seen at Gallery 621 from August 7 through September 6, Friday through Sunday, from 12 to 6PM. The gallery is located at 309 First Street, Benicia. Please wear a face mask. Hand sanitizer is provided at the door.
